It’s a great honour for Kutukutubuku.com to support the first Goodreads Indonesia Gathering in Mbah Jingkrak Restaurant on May 11, 2008. For you who haven’t joined yet, Goodreads is a social networking website for book lovers and offer great ways to share your book reviews. Indonesian book enthusiasts are loving Goodreads. That’s why I instantly said “YES” when -Syl- asked me to join the very first Goodreads Indonesia Gathering.
The event started with introduction from each and every Goodreads Members. I introduce myself as Ollie, my Goodreads nickname is Ollie, I’m a director of Online BookStore Kutukutubuku.com, and my favorite books are books that has been recommended by Oprah hehe.
Then we listened to Gieb reading wonderful poems. I’m trying to edit and cut the video of Gieb’s reading, I’m going to keep you posted. He’s really talented!
After Gieb, off we go to… BOOK SWAP! I brought 2 Paulo Coelho books to be swapped with a book written by my writing mentor, A.S. Laksana. His book titled “Bidadari yang Mengembara” crowned one of best books by Tempo Magazine.
Then we have a traditional Javanese lunch in Mbah Jingkrak Restaurant. Funny name, coz Mbah Jingkrak would literally mean, Jumping Grandma. Hehe. It’s all because they offer some hot chilis in their Javanese menu that could make you jumping all around.
We discussed about the next event of Goodreads Indonesia. Some suggest, we should make some kind of book club and I think we need to do a routine meeting held in public library. We will discuss about it more on Goodreads Indonesia Group.
And this is the proud Goodreads Indonesia Community…
Special thanks for friends from Goodreads Indonesia that has put much effort to make this gathering happened, especially Amang as the group leader (am I right?). Can’t wait to meet with all of you guys again and talk about books!
